Great Destinations for Camping include Hawaii. It is situated on the big island, Waimanu valley is pretty impressive, as long as you can tolerate the 5-mile hike in. If you can’t make it that far, many people just camp by the beach in Waipio Valley. Pololu valley and the next valley over are gorgeous places to camp in as well. Then there is volcanoes national park which is pretty to hike down into and camp. Although the hiking part isn’t too incredibly exciting because it is all old lava. There is free camping in Volcanoes national park also if you don’t want to hike.
Few Camping Destination
On Kauai, there is the Napali coast trail ending in another valley. It is pretty to camp. Besides all of the hippies who pretty much live there. Then there is Koke’ e state park more central on Kauai. It sports a beautiful isolated campground right next to some hikes around the big canyon they have over there.
On Maui, if you’re adventurous, you can camp out at the red sand beach. There is a beautiful campground right before you get to Hannah. That is a lovely camping spot. There are a few more shady spots that you can camp out on Maui. One is around this old garbage dump area (although you really can’t tell) right outside of Paia, you could jump a fence over and camp out over before Kapalua if you were courageous you could hump some gear into I’ao valley. Pass the sign that says do not pass this sign, and camp over there. You can also pass along the beaches of the southeastern coast with a permit. But these are right by the road and never really looked very cool to me.
On Molokai, there was a nice little campground in Palau state park .here; you are surrounded by vegetation, that one was nice to take the hammock and camp out. But what really would be cool (which I didn’t do) would be to rent a jeep for a few days. Drive-up the rough roads to their Kamakou rainforest, and camp out anywhere that looks inviting.
Other Camping Destinations
On Lanai, there is a pleasant little campground by the beach (can’t camp on the beach itself unless you live there).it is right by a beautiful four seasons hotel. Dolphins here are very common. What you WISH to do is rent a truck that can handle too rough terrain. Then check out the northern part of the island. There are plenty of private beaches to camp out.
On Oahu, you won’t find too many places to camp. They’ll allow camping along some of the beaches, close to the road. But you can as long as you’ve got your permit.
So that’s a brief synopsis of great destinations of Hawaii camping along the major islands. They are all excellent places! Just get your luggage and set your schedule.
